Home is where the heart is

As previously stated… Maps are amazing.

I’m a New Yorker and forever will be, even though I now live in Seattle. I needed some NY pride in my home, but I couldn’t leave out my husbands native land of New Hampshire or our new home in Seattle, so this is what came to be. Very time consuming and a bit challenging, but it turned out to be one of my favorite projects!

Where does you heart belong?

(My Gallery Wall)

Empire State Building (NY), The Old Man of The Mountain (NH), Space Needle (WA)

-Canvas (s)

-Acrylic Paint color (s) of your choice for the background

-Maps cut up into strips of all sizes

-modge podge

-Acrylic paint for tracing design (I used gold)

Step 1: Paint the entire canvas your desired color.

Step 2: Draw the outline of your “main attraction” in pencil (Space Needle, Mountains, Buildings, etc)

Step 3: Modge Podge the strips of maps into the area of the “main attraction.” I didn’t layer mine and tried to have them going the same way. Feel free to cut your strips to fit.

Step 4: Do a layer of modge podge over the top of everything.

Step 5: Using your acrylic paint for tracing. Trace your “main attraction” to give it that final touch.
